After breakfast at the hotel, guests will attend a brief tour introduction conducted by the guide. During this session, a comprehensive overview of the journey will be provided, including details of the itinerary, important information about the Adam’s Peak night hike, safety guidelines, cultural insights, and an opportunity for guests to ask questions. This ensures everyone is well-prepared and comfortable for the experiences ahead.
Journey to the Central Highlands
Following the briefing, guests will travel to the central highlands toward Adam’s Peak (Sri Pada). The scenic journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, passing through lush countryside, small villages, and rubber plantations, gradually ascending into cooler mountain regions filled with forests and tea plantations. Lunch will be self-arranged at a local restaurant during the journey.
Arrival in Dalhousie
Upon arrival in Dalhousie, guests will check in at the Adams Peak Hotel, located close to the trail entrance and surrounded by forested hills. The afternoon is free for relaxation and preparation for the overnight hike. An early dinner will be served at the hotel.
Adam’s Peak Night Hike
Later in the night, around 02:00 AM – 02:30 AM, guests will begin the climb to the summit of Adam’s Peak, one of Sri Lanka’s most sacred mountains. The hike starts from Dalhousie village and covers approximately 5–5.5 km with around 5,200–5,500 steps, taking about 2.5 to 4 hours to reach the top. The trail is considered moderately challenging and is supported by tea stalls, rest points, and local vendors along the way.
The mountain holds deep spiritual significance across multiple religions. Buddhists believe the footprint at the summit belongs to Lord Buddha, Hindus associate it with Lord Shiva, while Christians and Muslims believe it is linked to Adam, the first man. The journey is enriched by a lively and spiritual atmosphere, with pilgrims chanting prayers as they ascend.
Sunrise at the Summit
Guests will reach the summit before sunrise to witness breathtaking views over the central highlands. One of the most unique sights is the perfect triangular shadow cast by the mountain at dawn. After enjoying the sunrise, guests may ring the temple bell before descending back to the hotel.
